EU donates M6.4m furniture to govt

The European Union (EU) has donated office furniture worth M6.4 million to the ministry of law and justice.

Speaking at the handover ceremony yesterday, minister of justice and law, Richard Ramoeletsi, expressed gratitude to the EU, saying the furniture would make the government’s work effective.

Ramoeletsi emphasised the significance of the donation in advancing the ministry’s service delivery efforts, particularly as the nation reflects on its rich history and looks towards a brighter.

He hailed the EU’s donation as a timeless gift for the country’s bicentennial celebrations.

“This donation marks a significant milestone in our country’s history and comes at a significant moment when the nation celebrates its 200th anniversary.

“It signals the EU’s belief in our commitment to upholding the rule of law and also provides the necessary infrastructure to support our work in upholding justice for all Basotho,” Ramoeletsi noted.

Speaking on behalf of the EU, programmes officer, Mathe Tau, described the donation as a symbolic gesture of their commitment in aiding Lesotho in its pursuit of efficient, equitable service delivery across government ministries.

“This is a step in our ongoing support for Lesotho’s quest for decentralisation and better public services. The EU stands alongside the nation as a steadfast ally in its journey towards a future where justice and sustainability flourish hand-in-hand,” she noted.
