Vodacom Lesotho Foundation (VFL) has donated bedding to Mohlomi Mental Hospital.

The project was undertaken by Tšane Foundation in partnership with VFL and other stakeholders.

The donation included 80 new mattresses supplied by VLF, extra mattresses from Shoprite Soup Kitchen, a smart television gifted by Salman Hardware, and a sound system installed by Jam Sessions.

Speaking at the handover yesterday, VLFprogrammes coordinator, Beata Matasane, emphasized the organisation’s commitment to social wellbeing, especially for vulnerable communities.

She said Vodacom’s purpose is to “connect for a better future” by responding to real needs like dignity, health, and inclusion, noting that mental health is a complex, under-resourced area.

On her part, Rethabile Mahopolo, a counselling therapist at Tšane Foundation, said the donation was part of wider efforts to raise mental-health awareness and promote early intervention, and collective responsibility.

Medical Superintendent at Mohlomi Mental Hospital, Hlophekile Tšisa, welcomed the support, citing its positive impact on patient care and the value of the awareness walk which preceded the presentation ceremony, in strengthening community understanding of mental health.

The donated materials refreshed the hospital’s wards, boosted patient comfort, and reinforced community solidarity around mental-health care.
