UNICEF celebrates World Children’s Day

The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) commemorated World Children’s Day at Help Lesotho premises in Pitseng, Leribe.

This year’s theme is: “For every child, every right,” emphasising equal rights for every child, irrespective of their society, community or nationality.

According to a statement from UNICEF, the commemoration aims to empower children to voice their opinions and concerns, advocate for improved healthcare, education, protection and promote equal opportunities for a better future.

“The celebration will include a series of impactful activities such as discussions on how young people want to be included, an awareness session on children’s rights, an art competition designed to foster personal awareness and understanding of diversity.

“Since 2017, World Children’s Day has been UNICEF’s Global Day of Action for children, by children, commemorating the adoption of Convention on the rights of the child,” UNICEF said in the statement.
