Econet Telecom Lesotho (ETL) has concluded its HoaKhonahala campaign with the handover of the final of three Toyota Starlet vehicles to a Ha Abia resident, Nthati Sephaka.

The handover ceremony, held on Friday, marked the end of a nationwide promotion that rewarded customers with various prizes, including televisions, airtime, cash and cars.

Speaking at the event, ETL Chief Executive Officer, Dennis Plaatjies, expressed gratitude to Basotho for their continued support since the company began operations in the country.

“As ETL and Sasai Econet Services, we thank the nation for the support we have received over the years while delivering telecommunications services,” he said.

Plaatjies noted that the company invested about M6 million into the campaign as part of efforts to give back to its customers.

“We committed M6 million to this initiative because we wanted to return value to our customers. We believe the prizes have made a meaningful difference in many people’s lives,” he added.

He encouraged those who did not win during the campaign to remain hopeful, stating that more promotions are planned for the year.

“This year, another campaign is in the pipeline. We urge customers to continue buying SIM cards, sending money through EcoCash and subscribing to EcoSure,” Plaatjies indicated.

Sephaka said she received news of her win while travelling in a taxi.

She explained that she had entered the competition last year and remained persistent despite not winning immediately.

“I never got discouraged. I have learnt that these competitions are not only for wealthy people — even those with little can participate and eventually win,” she said.
