Local non-governmental organisation, Youth Home Lesotho, has hosted a dialogue to tackle challenges effecting young people in Lesotho.
Youth Home Lesotho secretary for Public Affairs in Maseru district committee, Lepota Mafeka, said the Friday meeting in Mafeteng was held in collaboration with the National Aids Commission, the Lesotho Planned Parenthood Association and UNICEF.
He noted that the organisations were developing joint strategies to tackle unemployment, poverty and rights violations, as well as strengthening collaboration between stakeholders and youth.
“Our mission is to protect, empower, and equip disadvantaged youth with skills and support so that they can escape poverty and live independently,” Mafeka told theReporter in an interview.
The initiative also aims to educate girls and young women on sexual and reproductive health rights.
He further called on the government to work hand in hand with youth organisations when making decisions that shape their lives.
