In a series of summits, delve into topics such as automated fact-checking, sentiment analysis, and blockchain integration, in order to enhance digital media skills among media professionals and enthusiasts across Lesotho by focusing on investigative journalism, ethical considerations, and policy frameworks.
In Lesotho, digital literacy is paramount for maintaining and
improving livelihoods. It is crucial that our community is
educated about the use of digital tools to effectively combat
misinformation, disinformation, and malinformation.
To
this end, we have initiated a seven-month workshop, led by Tello
Leballo, an IVLP alumni and a renowned broadcaster and founder of
the Sky Alpha HD, a premier digital radio in Lesotho. This
initiative aims to equip content creators, digital journalists,
and influencers with AI tools to counter misinformation.
The Digital Innovators Summit series will, from the
launch at the American Corner in Maseru, Lesotho, to three of the
biggest universities such as the National University of Lesotho
(NUL), Botho University and Limkokwing University of Creative
Technology (LUCT), delve into topics such as automated
fact-checking, sentiment analysis, and blockchain integration, in
order to enhance digital media skills among media professionals
and enthusiasts across Lesotho by focusing on investigative
journalism, ethical considerations, and policy frameworks.
The
Digital Innovators Summit is proudly supported by the US Embassy
in Lesotho. Funding is provided by the U.S. Department of State’s
Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs with Meridian
International Center as the implementing partner.
