Government nurses have threatened to down their tools if they are not paid their March 2026 salaries before the end of business today.
The Lesotho Nursing and Midwifery Organisation(LeNMO) noted in a statement that it had received complaints from nurses that their March salaries remain unpaid.
The nurses said they received a memo from the Director of Human Resources dated 25 March 2025 announcing salary delays but gave no length or reasons. The ministry has not commented on the matter.
“The non-payment of salaries is tremendously affecting our members and LeNMO strongly condemns this form of modern-day slavery by the Ministry of Health, and Finance and Development Planning.
“This unfair labour practice not only affects members but will also affect service delivery nationwide should salaries remain unpaid by the end of business on Tuesday,” LeNMO warned.
